Discover a new issue every month
Hand-picked mixes and playlists, laid out like a rack of retro magazines, with shelves for studying, sleeping, rainy days and more. Back issues stay on the rack.
Make tapes from any link
Paste or share any YouTube video or playlist and it lands on your shelf as a tape. Save what's playing with one tap, and put your favourite tracks together into mixtapes.
Find a secret in every room
Knock on the cabin window. Lift the pumpkin's lid. Every room hides a little surprise, and a few hide whole games. Each one you find earns a stamp on its tag in the theme shop.

ten more to go…
Play on iPhone, iPad and Mac
On iPhone the stations sit in a drawer under the device. On iPad and Mac, focus mode tucks them away and gives the device the whole room. On the Mac, Mini TV keeps a little set on top of your other windows.
Made for iPhone Duo
Open it like a book: the TV on one page, the stations on the other. Stand it up half open and the set sits on top while its remote waits on the table.
Look around the whole shelf
Ask before you tune in
Is Lofi Shelf free?
Yes, to download and to listen. Every station, Discover and your tapes are free and need no account. Four devices come free, and Shelf Club, an optional membership, opens up the rest of the shelf. Lofi Shelf has no ads of its own, though YouTube's player sometimes shows YouTube's.
Where does the music come from?
Everything plays through YouTube's own player, right on the device's screen. The stations are channels that broadcast lofi around the clock, and your tapes are the videos and playlists you add. The music belongs to its artists and labels.
Does it keep playing in the background?
No. YouTube's rules say its player has to be on screen while it plays, so the music pauses when you leave the app and picks up when you come back. On the Mac, Mini TV keeps a small set floating above your other windows so you can work while it plays.
Can I add my own mixes?
Yes. Paste or share any YouTube video or playlist link and it becomes a tape on your shelf. Put favourite tracks together into mixtapes, too.
What do I need?
An iPhone or iPad with iOS 18 or later, or a Mac with macOS 15 or later, and an internet connection.
What do you collect about me?
Nothing. There are no accounts and no analytics, and your tapes stay on your device. YouTube's player follows Google's privacy policy. The privacy policy has the details.
